Surakarta, August 25th – Three students from At-Tin UMP Pesantren garnered public attention at the Muhammadiyah Press and Literacy Festival held at the Edutorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) last Sunday. Zidan Syafiq Pratama, Daffa Muhammad Azmi, and Izyan Syazwani Zafiroh were recognized as the youngest participants in this prestigious festival.
The Muhammadiyah Press and Literacy Festival, a collaboration between the Muhammadiyah Central Executive’s Council for Libraries and Information, the Serikat Taman Pustaka, and the Central Executive Board of Aisyiyah’s Cultural, Arts, and Sports Institute, is a prestigious event for literary figures within Muhammadiyah. The participation of At-Tin UMP Pesantren’s delegation in this event is a testament to the pesantren’s commitment to supporting and developing literacy among its students.
“This is a concrete manifestation of At-Tin Pesantren’s commitment to focusing on student literacy, and it is one of our efforts to instill pride in our students by participating in prestigious literary events within Muhammadiyah,” said Alvin Qodri Lazuardy, M.Pd., Head of SMP AT-TIN UMP and Mudir of Pesantren At-Tin, who was also present as a delegate at the event. Alvin added that the involvement of students in such significant events not only enhances their literacy capacity but also instills a sense of pride as part of the national literacy movement.
The youngest participant award was presented by Cak David Efendi, Chairman of the Serikat Taman Pustaka. In his remarks, Cak David expressed his pride in the achievements of these young students. “This is a very special moment. They are still very young but have already been involved in important national-level literacy events. They are the successors of the literacy movement in the Serikat Taman Pustaka, both now and in the future,” said Cak David.
The success of the At-Tin UMP Pesantren students is expected to inspire other students and encourage a spirit of literacy among the younger generation, especially within the Muhammadiyah education environment. This achievement not only strengthens At-Tin UMP Pesantren’s position in the national educational arena but also underscores the important role of students in fostering a strong literacy culture in Indonesia.
